Friday the 13th

I don't consider myself superstitious. I don't care if a black cat crosses my path. I very rarely "knock on wood". With that being said, I believe in Friday the 13th. I don't know why, but all the freaks come out on that day. I was searching through my pictures trying to find one particular photo (that I will post sometime in the near future - you will love it!) and came across this picture, instead. I think this was about 1998, and I was working at good ol' R&K Building Supplies in the door shop. Best job EVER, by the way! Well, this year on Friday the 13th we decided to all BE the freaks that we dreaded. This is a picture of me with my old work buddy, Dan (he dressed up because of peer pressure, and a suit in a dirty old door shop is about as FREAKY as you get with Dan). There were a few others who dressed up, too. The only thing is that we had to act like we didn't know what people were looking at... like this was our "everyday" look. The door shop was very casual - shorts, t-shirts, whatever... so this was quite the shock to many fellow employees from other departments, and especially to the customers! I have done similar things through out my school years. I remember one day in high school, a few "select" people were invited by me to be part of secret "spirit week", where we had things like, "Clash your clothes day," and "bring an old kiddy lunchbox to school day". And as always, the key is to act like you don't know what people are talking about when they ask, "why are you dressed like that?!" My motto for years was, "why be normal?" I guess now as I look back, I was just a gigantic NERD!!
This is actually my grandma's dress and mink - and YES, that hair is all part of the act - however similar to my look of the late 80's!!
